The men’s and women’s cross country teams ran this weekend in Fayetteville, Georgia to improve their times while running for a good cause. They ran at the RMR ribbon cutting and fight against cancer 5k run. RMR is a nonprofit organization that our assistant coach created, so that individuals can use their passion of running to raise funds and awareness to fight various diseases, public health risks, and epidemics.
As the Eagles crossed the finish line one after the other, they inspired the community as they watched them blaze their times. The top men and women finishers were Justin Burton and Emily Rexer respectively. Majority of the runners set personal records and did so as a result of running from the heart.
Coach Ella O'Kelley stated, “This was a fun experience that allowed them to run fast while using their talent to give back to an amazing organization. They were really excited that they had a chance to run with our CHL Director Amanda Yu who always supports our programs and who lent her love for running to the cause as well.”
They are looking forward to taking this weekend off as they recover and sharpen up to finish the second half of their season strong. Stay tuned and go Eagles!
