Oxford Cross Country Competes in NJCAA National Championships



HOLYOKE, MA - The Oxford Men and Women's Cross Country teams wrapped up their season in the NJCAA DIII National Championships. Both teams tied their finishes from last year with the Men finishing 10th and the Women finishing 2nd. 

The Men's 8K race had a total of 176 runners from 23 different schools. Sophomore Alden Aspiras (35th) finished the race in 29:15 to lead the Eagles. Fellow sophomore Justin Burton (60th) followed close after with a time of 30:07. 

In the Women's 5K race, there was a total of 125 runners from 14 different schools. Oxford had two Eagles finish in the top 10. Freshman Emily Elder finished in 3rd place by running a time of 19:53. Fellow freshman Katie Dorton (9th) ran a time of 20:06. 

"Coach T and I are extremely proud of how our runners competed this past weekend," stated Head Coach Ella O'Kelley. "It was a tough enviroment with the rain but our runners were prepared. Although we did not get the results we were striving for, I am proud of the great season these young men and women have had."
