Thomas Powell CHL Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2020

The Center for Healthful Living (CHL) has recognized Thomas Powell of the men’s basketball team as the December Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the CHL's motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.

Powell is from High Point, NC and is currently pursuing a major in Psychology and a minor in Linguistics. He is a two-year member of the men’s basketball team and was named to the All-Region Team as a freshman.

Powell excels in the classroom as well. He was named to the NJCAA Academic All-American Team as a freshman and is on track to earn this award again. He has one of the highest GPAs on the team and was an important part of the team earning the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year award last year. Powell was also named to the Emory Honor’s List.

This semester, Powell will begin the Emory ROTC program, where he will complete his undergraduate degree at Emory while starting his military training at Georgia Tech.
