Zeeyong Kwong CHL Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2021

The Center for Healthful Living (CHL) has recognized Zeeyong (Zee) Kwong of the men’s golf team as the February Student-Athlete of the Month. This award recognizes a student athlete's commitment to the CHL's motto: Educate the Mind and Exercise the Body.

Kwong is currently pursuing a major in Biology and a minor in Quantitative Science. He is a two-year member of the men’s golf team. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic in March of 2020, his season was cut short. Head Golf Coach Molly McNamara had this to say about her player, “Zee exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete at Oxford. While academics is always his #1 priority, he has amazing time management skills, which has allowed him to balance his commitment to the golf program as well as his academics and leadership positions on campus. Zee’s commitment to the team allowed the men’s golf team to compete as a full team during his first year on campus. He always has a positive attitude and enjoys his time on the golf course. Zee is always willing to meet with prospective student-athletes to share his experience at Oxford. How he manages all of his commitments and responsibilities is something that not only our athletes can admire but all students.”

As mentioned, academics is a top priority for Kwong and this shows in some of the accomplishments he has earned. Last year, he was awarded the CHL’s Bivings Scholarship Award, one of the department’s top honors. Kwong was also named an NJCAA Academic All-American his first year. He has been named to the Phi Eta Sigma Academic and Alpha Epsilon Upsilon Honor Society and the Emory Honors List.

Kwong is also heavily involved in the community serving as President of the Asian Cultural Club, Vice-President of Initiation of Phi Eta Sigma, and Project Coordinator for Volunteer Oxford. On top of that, Kwong is also a Residential Assistant in one of the dorms.
