Women's Golf Shows Tremendous Improvements
The Oxford College Women’s Golf team finished in 10th place last week at the Truett McConnell University Fall Georgia Mountain Invitational. But don’t let the final placement fool you, as these ladies are finding their niche on the golf course now. All five player improved their score from day one over to day two by at least 12 shots. This means the team score improved by 67 shots in just one day. This is quite an impressive feat and shows the capabilities these girls have to go out and compete.
One notable player is Katie Hochhausler who scored an 81 in the second round of the tournament. This is a school record for an 18 hole score and her total score of 176 is second best in school history.
Coach Brian Schiffbauer had this to say about their improvements, “I can't say enough about the way that the ladies' rebounded from their first round performance. They could have folded and just gone through the motions for the final round, but they came with a renewed attitude that really propelled them forward. I had a handful of coaches remark on their turnaround and I definitely have a 'glass half-full' approach to the rest of our season.”
The Women’s Golf team tees it up again at Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky on October 9th-11th.
