Men's basketball falls to LaGrange 84-79
LaGrange, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team fell on the road to LaGrange College 84-79.
The two teams played evenly throughout the game, with the lead not being more than eight points at any time.
Sophomore Ved Desai was fouled with less than 30 seconds left in the first half with LaGrange up by two. He made both free throws to tie the game at 35. LaGrange missed a 3-pointer before the half to keep the game tied.
The two teams went back and forth until a minute left in the game. The Eagles found themselves down by four points. Sophomore Leo Etah scored to bring Emory Oxford to within two. Sophomore Adeniyi Ogunlana fouled a LaGrange player, who then missed his two free throws. Etah got the rebound and scored to tie the game with 45 seconds left.
LaGrange shot a 3-pointer and two free throws at the end of the game to secure the win.
Etah led the team with 20 points and eight rebounds. Desai had 17 points and made seven out of eight free throws. Sophomore Nicholas Yatros (16) and first-year Alex Straser (11) also had double-digit points for Emory Oxford.
The Eagles are now 2-1 on the season. The team will next face Southern Crescent Technical College on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
