Men's basketball defeated by Southern Crescent 81-78
Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team dropped a close 81-78 game to visiting Southern Crescent Technical College.
The game was close in the first half, but the Eagles found themselves down by 10 midway through the first half and down 41-33 at halftime.
During the second half, Emory Oxford was able to erase a 13-point deficit by consistently making baskets while their opponents struggled. The Eagles took the lead around the 13 minute mark after sophomore Leo Etah made both of his free throws. The teams continued going back and forth throughout the rest of the game, with the score always remaining close. With two minutes left, Etah made a three-pointer to tie the game at 78.
While the Eagles made a good effort in the end, they were unable to make any baskets. The visitors score two points with less than a minute remaining and a free throw at the end to earn the win.
Sophomore Ved Desai scored 25 points and had 10 rebounds for Emory Oxford. Etah had 20 points with nine rebounds. Sophomore Nicholas Yatros was also in the double digits with 11 points.
The Eagles will go on the road next to face Virginia Peninsula Community College in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m.
