Men's basketball falls to ABAC in overtime 81-76
Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team was defeated by Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at home in overtime by a score of 81-76.
The Eagles led midway through the first, and carried the lead into halftime. In the second, ABAC made a comeback and went on an 11-0 run over the span of about three minutes to take the biggest lead of the game.
Down by four with 25 seconds remaining, sophomore Leo Etah hit a three to cut the lead to one. ABAC made one free throw to bring the score to 70-68 with 20 seconds left. After a timeout, sophomore Jason Kim made a layup to tie the game. First-year Alex Straser then blocked ABAC on the other end to send the game into overtime.
Oxford held a one point lead with 33 seconds left in overtime, but a steal and free throws put ABAC on top and led the visitors to winning the game.
Sophomore Ved Desai led scoring with 28 points. He also had eight rebounds. Etah had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kim scored 13 points and had nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Eagles play again at home against Sandhills Community College on Friday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m.
