Desai and Kim made history as Oxford falls to Tidewater 82-81
Pinehurst, NC - Sophomore Ved Desai scored his 1,000th career point as Emory Oxford men's basketball team lost a tough game on the road against conference opponent Tidewater Community College 82-81.
Both teams played evenly during the first half, tying toward the end before Tidewater took a 42-39 lead into halftime.
Midway through the second half, Tidewater led by 17 points. With a minute remaining in the second, the Eagles found themselves down by four. Sophomore Jason Kim made a layup and Desai made two free throws to tie the game at 79 with 48 seconds left.
After a timeout, Kim made another layup to take the lead. Tidewater made a three with 12 seconds left and earned the win after the Eagles missed a shot on the other end.
Desai led the team with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Kim had 16 points and four assists, becoming Oxford all-time leader in assists. Sophomore Nicholas Yatros scored 13 points.
The Eagles play again tomorrow, facing Camp Community College at 1 p.m.
