Atlanta, Ga. - The Emory Oxford women's tennis team defeated Clark Atlanta University 8-1 on the road.
The Eagles won all of their doubles matches. First-years Rachel Blais and Karina Artemiev teamed up and defeated their opponents by a close score of 8-6. First-year Zari Haque and sophomore Jennifer He won a hard-fought match 7-7 (10-8). Sophomore Samantha Goldberg and first-year Arielle Gomberg won 8-5.
In third singles, Haque won 6-3, 6-4, while He won fourth singles 6-3, 6-1. Gomberg easily won her match in fifth singles 6-2, 6-0. Goldberg defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-4.
Artemiev won second singles early in the match after her opponent retired. Blais was defeated in first singles 7-5, 6-3.
Oxford will play again tomorrow, Sunday, April 12, on the road against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
